Professional Network Design

Good infrastructure starts with good design. SIPPER delivers professional network architecture — VLAN design, IP addressing scheme, WiFi site survey and heat map, PoE budget calculation, QoS policy for VoIP, and complete as-built documentation. VoIP-first thinking in every design.

Network Design Overview

VoIP-first network design philosophy

Most network designers think about data first and add VoIP as an afterthought. SIPPER designs networks with voice quality as a primary requirement — QoS, VLAN separation, and network topology are defined to guarantee call quality before data bandwidth is allocated.

New Offices & Renovations

SIPPER designs network infrastructure for new office fit-outs, building renovations, and factory expansions. Design work begins before cabling is done — the right design prevents expensive rework later.

Voice-First Priority

SIPPER brings VoIP engineering expertise to every network design. QoS configurations, DSCP marking, voice VLAN, and PoE budget are designed to guarantee G.711/G.729 call quality even on a congested network.

Works with Any Implementation Team

SIPPER network design documents are vendor-neutral and can be handed to any installation team or used for procurement specification. SIPPER can also implement the design — but that is optional.

Design Services

What network design covers

SIPPER network design engagements cover all aspects of LAN and WLAN architecture. The scope is defined per project based on size and complexity.

VLAN Design & IP Addressing

SIPPER designs a VLAN architecture appropriate for your organization — Voice, Data, Management, Guest, IoT, Camera, and POS VLANs with clearly defined inter-VLAN routing policies. IP addressing scheme documented with subnet assignments and DHCP scope definitions.

WiFi Site Survey & Heat Map

Physical site survey to measure RF environment, identify interference sources, and determine optimal access point placement. Predictive heat map generated for 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands showing signal coverage, SNR, and data rate contours across your floor plan.

PoE Budget & QoS Policy

PoE budget calculation ensures switch power supply is sized for all connected IP phones, cameras, access points, and IoT devices. QoS policy design prioritizes voice (EF/DSCP 46), video (AF41), and management (CS2) traffic classes with bandwidth guarantees.

Deliverables

Complete documentation for your network

SIPPER delivers a full set of network documentation that serves as the single source of truth for your infrastructure — usable by your internal team, a future MSP, or during an audit.

Network Topology Diagram

Logical and physical network topology in Visio or draw.io format. Includes all network devices, interconnections, uplink speeds, and management IP addresses. Both PDF export and editable source file provided.

WiFi Heat Map

Coverage heat map overlaid on your floor plan showing signal strength (-65 to -75 dBm contours), channel allocation, and access point positions. Validates that all work areas and meeting rooms meet minimum coverage standards.

IP Address & VLAN Table

Complete IP addressing table with subnet, gateway, DHCP scope, and VLAN ID for each network segment. Includes PoE budget spreadsheet showing power consumption per switch port and total per switch, with headroom calculation.

FAQ

Common questions about network design

Why do I need a professional network design if equipment vendors provide configuration guides?

Vendor configuration guides are generic. A professional design is specific to your building layout, user count, application mix, and growth plan. SIPPER's VoIP-first design ensures your network supports call quality requirements that generic guides overlook — QoS, voice VLAN, and PoE budgeting are often missing from vendor documentation.

Can SIPPER design a network for a building under construction?

Yes. This is ideal timing. SIPPER can review architectural drawings and produce a network design with conduit routing, cable tray layout, telecommunications room placement, and port count per area before any cabling is done. This avoids expensive changes during or after construction.

How many access points do I need for my office size?

This depends on wall construction, office layout, user density, and interference from neighboring networks — not just floor area. A proper WiFi site survey accounts for all these factors. As a rough guide, one UniFi U6-Pro covers 150–250 sqm in a typical open-plan office, but individual results vary significantly.

Can you validate an existing network design from another vendor?

Yes. SIPPER offers design review as a standalone service — we review a network design document from another vendor or integrator and provide a written assessment of gaps, risks, and recommendations. This is useful when you want a second opinion before committing to a large infrastructure investment.

Do you design networks for specific compliance requirements (ISO 27001, PCI DSS)?

Yes. SIPPER designs networks with compliance requirements in mind — segmentation for cardholder data environments (PCI DSS), network access control for ISO 27001, and PDPA-compliant WiFi logging. Compliance-oriented design requires additional scope discussion.
