IT Solutions for Factory & Warehouse

Industrial environments demand ruggedized, high-availability IT. SIPPER delivers outdoor WiFi with IP67 protection, DECT and WiFi SIP phones for mobile workers, industrial PoE switches, FortiGate OT/IT network segmentation, and server infrastructure for ERP and WMS.

Factory IT Overview

Built for industrial environments

Factories and warehouses present unique challenges — extreme temperatures, dust, vibration, and the need for workers to communicate while moving across large floor areas. SIPPER designs IT infrastructure to meet industrial standards while keeping operational systems online.

Factories, Warehouses & Logistics

SIPPER has deployed industrial IT across manufacturing plants, cold-storage warehouses, and logistics distribution centers. Experience with high-interference RF environments and mission-critical uptime requirements.

OT/IT Segmentation

Operational Technology (production equipment, PLCs) and IT (ERP, WMS, email) must be separated on different network segments. SIPPER uses FortiGate to enforce strict OT/IT boundaries with firewall policies between zones.

High Availability Infrastructure

Critical production systems require redundant network paths. SIPPER designs with dual uplinks, redundant switches, and UPS-backed network equipment to minimize downtime risk.

Industrial WiFi

Ruggedized outdoor and industrial WiFi

Standard office access points fail in harsh environments. SIPPER selects IP67-rated outdoor access points with extended temperature range, fast roaming for moving forklifts and scanners, and RF site survey to map coverage in high-interference settings.

IP67 Outdoor Access Points

UniFi U6-Mesh and Aruba AP-577 outdoor access points rated for dust, humidity, and extreme heat. Suitable for open warehouses, loading docks, and outdoor storage yards. PoE+ powered from weatherproof enclosures.

Industrial PoE Switches

DIN-rail and rack-mount PoE switches with extended temperature range (-40°C to 75°C). Supports barcode scanners, VoIP handsets, cameras, and access points from a single network infrastructure.

Barcode Scanner WiFi Connectivity

Handheld barcode scanners (Zebra, Honeywell) require seamless WiFi roaming as workers move across warehouse zones. SIPPER configures 802.11r fast BSS transition and SSID band steering for zero-gap roaming.

Voice & DECT

SIP phones for mobile factory workers

Production floor workers need hands-free communication that works while moving. SIPPER deploys DECT base stations with Yealink DECT handsets for wide-area mobility, and WiFi SIP phones where workers need display and call transfer capability.

DECT Handsets for Wide-Area Mobility

Yealink W70B DECT base stations and W53H/W56H handsets provide up to 300m outdoor range per base station. Chain multiple base stations for seamless roaming across large factory floors without WiFi dependency.

WiFi SIP Phones

Yealink T34W WiFi IP phones for supervisors and office staff on the production floor. No cabling required — connects to the existing WiFi network with the same extension and call routing as desk phones in the office.

Yeastar PBX for Factory Communications

Yeastar P-Series Cloud PBX manages all internal extensions — desk phones, DECT handsets, WiFi SIP phones, and mobile app users — in one system. SIPPER handles provisioning, call routing, and ongoing PBX management.

OT/IT Security

FortiGate OT/IT segmentation and server infrastructure

Production systems and business systems must be isolated. FortiGate enforces strict zone policies between OT (PLCs, SCADA, production equipment) and IT (ERP, WMS, email). SIPPER also sizes and installs on-premise servers for ERP/WMS workloads that cannot run in the cloud.

FortiGate OT/IT Firewall

FortiGate 60F or 100F with FortiGuard ICS/SCADA signature pack. Separate firewall zones for OT, IT, and Guest. Strict east-west policies prevent IT malware from reaching production systems. Logging and alerting to SOC.

ERP/WMS Server Infrastructure

Dell PowerEdge or HPE ProLiant servers sized for your ERP (SAP, Oracle, Odoo) and WMS workloads. RAID-configured storage, OS installation, and backup solution included. SIPPER manages server infrastructure as part of IT Outsource.

CCTV for Factory & Warehouse Security

IP camera coverage for production lines, loading docks, storage areas, and perimeter. Hikvision or Dahua NVR with 30-day retention. Remote viewing for plant manager and security team via mobile app.

FAQ

Common questions about factory and warehouse IT

Can WiFi handle forklift-mounted barcode scanners that move continuously?

Yes. SIPPER configures 802.11r fast BSS transition (fast roaming) so devices maintain their WiFi session as they move between access points without dropping. This is essential for forklift-mounted scanners that cannot tolerate roaming delays.

How do you separate production (OT) and business (IT) networks?

SIPPER uses FortiGate to create separate firewall zones for OT, IT, and Guest traffic. Production PLCs and SCADA systems are placed in the OT zone with strict policies that prevent access from the IT zone. This follows Purdue Model network segmentation principles.

Do DECT phones work across a 10,000 sqm warehouse?

Yes. Multiple Yealink W70B DECT base stations can be chained to cover large areas. Each base station covers approximately 50m indoors and 300m outdoors. SIPPER designs the base station layout based on a site survey to ensure full coverage with seamless handover.

Can you install WiFi in a cold-storage warehouse (-20°C)?

Yes. SIPPER selects access points rated for low-temperature operation. Aruba access points support operation from -20°C to 55°C. Cabling and enclosures are specified for the temperature range to prevent condensation issues.

Do you support Odoo or SAP server deployments?

Yes. SIPPER sizes and installs on-premise servers for ERP and WMS workloads including Odoo, SAP Business One, and custom WMS systems. We also handle OS, database, and backup configuration. Ongoing server management is available as part of IT Outsource.
